Every year, the Estée Lauder Companies’ involves all 18 brands that sit under their umbrella to promote and support the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. They are also The Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s first and largest corporate supporter – and they haven’t stopped putting in the hard work that they’ve always contributed to the campaign annually.
As a matter of fact, over the years, the Estée Lauder Companies have become so “loud” that they now hold the title as the initiator for the Global Landmark Illuminations. The initiative started in 2000 to remind women across the globe about the importance of breast health. What started as a small campaign to light up prominent landmarks have become an event where, today, over 600 landmarks are illuminated worldwide!
Yes, that includes our very own Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the KL Tower in Kuala Lumpur.
The Global Landmark Illuminations initiative is so widespread and successful that last year, the Estée Lauder Companies established a new Guinness World Record for “most landmarks illuminated for a cause in 24 hours.”
Miles and miles across oceans, other prominent landmarks that support the cause are such as:
1. The Empire State Building in the United States
2. The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy
3. Taipei 101 in Taiwan
4. The Burj Al Arab in Dubai
5. The Tokyo Tower in Japan
6. Niagara Falls in Canada
7. The George Washington Bridge in the United States
The objective? To spread the word that early detection saves lives. And if landmarks around the world can take one simple step, and maybe a flick of a light switch to support the cause, then people around the world should also recognize that Breast Cancer Awareness is fairly easy to uphold.
Remember, understanding breast health is important and early detection saves lives. You can take that one simple step to save your own life, as well as the women around you.
