The Imperial Stormtroopers of the 501st Legion Malaysia Outpost are committed to making a difference wherever they go. As fans gear up for Star Wars Day on May the Fourth, the 501st Legion in Malaysia are ramping up their efforts to give back to society.
Star Wars Day is a fan-created day celebrated around the world yearly on May The Fourth, a play on words based on the iconic saying, “May the Force be with you”. It first started in the 70s, when Margaret Thatcher won the elections as Britain’s first female prime minister on 4 May 1979.
Her victory was published with the headline, ‘May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations’ – a proof of Star Wars’ vast influence in society. Since then, fans celebrate this day in a variety of ways and it continues to capture the hearts and minds of fans both young and old.
Some special highlights for Star Wars fans include:
- The upcoming release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens in December 2015
- The marathon screening of The New Yoda Chronicles from 11am and Star Wars Rebels from 7pm on Disney XD (Astro 617/Astro HD 637) from 1-4 May (Monday to Friday).
- The entire Star Wars Digital Movie Collection in High Definition on iTunes which includes never-seen-before special features such as Star Wars: Discoveries from Inside, conversations between key contributors from the films, and a curated collection of classic Star Wars extras from each film.
