Feminism is a subject that gets people going and it is definitely something that’s worth the talk, but it’s not that easy to grab people’s attention. A woman in Karsruhe, Germany called Elonë decided to use a controversial tool — period pads — to solve this issue and get her message out about gender equality and getting rid of rape culture.
She couldn’t have chosen a better day to get her messages out — March 8th, International Women’s Day.
Thousands of people and critics have shown their support for her work, and there are some that even want to apply her project to their cities. Her photos with the pads have made its round on online and has been shared thousands of times.
Despite having critics barging her inbox with messages, Elonë assures everybody that her message is about “equality, not men hate.” The reason her messages are getting are a lot of attention is because they are straight to the point. Now is the time for us to put an end to rape-culture, gender-inequality and victim-blaming.
