At Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, a new world of exciting experiences await you. The spectacular world class resort is a center piece in Hong Kong, one of only five locations in the world that is home to a Disney theme park. Upon entering the theme park, there are incredible sights and sounds, as well as plenty of attractions available.
While I was visiting Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, we had the time to tour around the theme park and visit several themed lands that are a part of the theme park’s latest expansion. Inspired by the global blockbuster Toy Story movies, the first themed land we stopped by was Toy Story Land. The bright, colourful setting shrinks all guests to the size of a toy with its oversized, larger-than-life attractions.
The RC Racer, which is a 27 metre-high U-shaped track with Andy’s speediest RC toy car going at full speed, is the first ride we sat on and it surely got everyone’s adrenaline pumping. For those who are less daring, the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop might be right up their alley. Apt to its name, guests would fall from 25 metres high in a simulated parachute drop. All the themed lands also feature various snack carts, characters for photo opportunities, and official merchandise for sale.
Another themed land, Grizzly Gulch, is a giant gold mine with a Wild West setting and a home to a family of grizzly bears. Rocks and boulders fill the land, and it is then completed with intricate gold detailing to ensure that the entire landscape feels surreal. Out of all the highlights available at Grizzly Gulch, the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars would be my favourite. The mine cars are launched forward, making rapid turns and then, it surprises you and plummets backwards.
Mystic Point is the final chapter of the theme park’s latest expansion. Combining state-of-the-art technologies and meticulous architectural design, guests are transported into a truly mysterious journey beyond their imaginations. Originally designed as a Victorian mansion, Mystic Manor is infused with various cultural elements and other adornments.
Mystic Manor then leads the guests to the Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriage ride, which is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. While being comfortably seated, the carriages automatically move around the mansion, allowing guests to view a collection of vintage decor, collectibles, artifacts and fascinating animation within several rooms. You’ll just have to discover what happens next!
During our visit, we also had dinner at the Explorer’s Club, which is a halal restaurant offering 16 delicacies. Whether you prefer Korean cuisine, East Asian cuisine, Japanese cuisine or Indonesian cuisine, there is surely something suited for everyone. While indulging in delicious food, guests can also admire the themed decorations in five of the restaurant’s themed rooms.
After dinner, we waited patiently for the Disney Paint the Night parade. The full LED parade brings to life some of our favourite Disney classics and Disney Pixar movies in magical, luminescent worlds. The seven creative floats include the Tinker Bell Opening Unit, Monsters, Inc. Unit, Cars Unit, The Little Mermaid Unit, Belle Candlelight Unit, Toy Story Unit, and the Mickey & Friends Finale Unit.
The lights turned Hong Kong Disneyland Resort into a dazzling street filled with wonder and glow, so much so that it brought out the kid in me. To enhance your experience at the parade, you can also purchase interactive merchandise such as the Mickey Glow Mitt and the Minnie Glow Bow. Additionally, you can get the Mickey Magic Paint Brush, which allows you to interact with the performers. The paint brush changes colour on selected costumes at the touch of a button.
No trip to Disneyland is complete without watching the spectacular fireworks display and thankfully, we managed to witness it. As the fireworks filled the night sky with splendour, I couldn’t have been any happier.
