Location is perhaps one of the most important aspects that we look for when choosing an accommodation. Four Points by Sheraton definitely ticks all the right boxes when it comes to that. All around the world, the Four Points branch of the Sheraton group has always been known to situate its property near the airport, suburbs, beach or city. We were lucky enough to review the one at Langkawi and here’s what we think about it.
When we say that the Four Points by Sheraton Langkawi is close to the airport, we really mean it – this hotel is literally less than a 5-minute drive to and from the airport. It’s not hard to miss so you don’t have to really worry about getting lost. This hotel is also a short drive (5 minutes or so) to Pantai Cenang, Langkawi’s tourist center and to really have fun in this island, you really wouldn’t want to stay too far away from this stretch.
Our first thoughts of the property was the ample parking space available. The hotel has a basic design with clean architectural lines but don’t let that fool you – it’s actually a really well equipped hotel with an amazing infinity pool which is the largest on the island of Langkawi. The hotel might be built on a beach but unfortunately, it’s not recommended for swimming.
While most people might think this is a setback, Four Points Sheraton without a doubt makes up for this in other ways. Those wanting to squeeze in a bit of workout can definitely do so at the hotel’s gym which is right next to the pool and overlooks the sea.
The room we got was the Lanai Room, a spacious 43 square meters room with a private lanai that overlooks the pool. What we love best about this room was the easy access to the outdoor facilities such as the restaurant, gym, pool and lounge area. The rooms are designed in a way where you feel close enough to the amenities the hotel has to offer but yet, private enough to unwind. As Four Points mainly attracts business travellers, you can expect a quieter atmosphere as compared to the usual beach resort that are full of families with young children.
All 214 rooms are equipped with a flat screen TV, rainforest shower, bathtub, wired and wireless high speed internet access and the signature Four Points by Sheraton Comfort Bed which will hand you the most comfortable sleep you’ll ever have. The beds come with a plush mattress, which are available for purchase at every Four Points property, down sleeping pillows, a cozy duvet and 250-thread count sheets, ensuring uninterrupted sleep.
Just a few steps away from our room is the hotel’s restaurant, The Eatery. During our stay we had the pleasure of having lunch there one afternoon. The restaurant serves up some fantastic local dishes and we tasted the Nasi Lemak, Sarawak Laksa and the Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast.
We were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our meal so if you’re looking for some well-made local nosh with a reasonable hotel price tag, you know where to go.
We were given a short tour of the hotel where we got to view the Premier Suite and Premier Deluxe Suite. These suites are not available to the public but only to VVIPs such as Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir.
Yes, the former Prime Minister stays in the Premier Suite when he’s on the island for business so we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of his accommodation. As you can see from the photos, these suites have a huge space and separate rooms as well as a private balcony.
All in all, Four Points by Sheraton Langkawi offers a comfortable stay with large, clean and well-maintained rooms that will not disappoint unless you’re looking to stay at a place with a beach. Otherwise, the hotel has a good location, is peaceful and quiet, and has an incredible infinity pool that will delight any sun worshipper and water baby.
