The Best of You Movement was launched by Julie’s, the well-known biscuit manufacturer, in Malaysia and Singapore on June 1 2014. It is a social awareness movement to celebrate everyday heroes. The aim of the movement is to inspire a supportive community that revels in everyday accomplishments and milestones, no matter how big or small they are.
The movement called on the public to submit and share their personal and inspiring stories of people, things or experiences that have brought out the best in them via the website. They were allowed to make their submissions in any creative medium – writing, art and design, photography or film and music. About 1,000 Best of You entries were received by participants from Malaysia and Singapore. Their submissions have been displayed in The Best of You Life Exhibition, which was held at The Curve, Petaling Jaya, from 28 October to 2 November 2014.
To encourage the public to participate in the Best of You movement, prominent influencers showed the way by sharing their Best of You stories on Facebook. The influencers included actor Fizo Omar, TV host Owen Yap, world harmonica champion duo Aiden and Evelyn, professional photographer Faizal Tan Sri Mustafa, Radio DJ Sophia Chin, folk music singer Peggy Lai, among several others, with engagement from three private colleges. These colleges are New Era College, One World Hanxing College and Cilantro Culinary Academy. Engagement partners included Malaysia Chinese Photo Journalist Association, Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang and House of Hope and Light.
The Best of You movement and Life Exhibition will be an on-going annual event by Julie’s. For more information, visit Julie’s official website or The Best of You Facebook page.
