World’s leading health soap, Lifebuoy has donated RM40,000 to two underprivileged homes each, Rumah Anak Yatim At Taqwa, Puchong and Rumah Putera Harapan, Sabah to honour the pledge movement to Spread Peace, Not Germs.
The pledge movement is a part of the Salam Sesuci Lifebuoy campaign, which was launched earlier this month, with the aim to unite all Malaysians to practice the healthy habit of personal hygiene to stay ahead of germ protection. The campaign was developed with a mission to educate and empower parents, that although not visible to the naked eye, germs are prevalent and can be easily transmitted through contact.
Engaging the nation via the online sphere, pledgers embarked on an educational journey to pledge through a fun digital game reflecting the realities of Ramadan for a child named Arif, going through his first fast with a clean mind, body and spirit, as well as constant germ protection. As the number of pledges hit the target of 80,000, the total number was converted into monetary donations amounting to RM80,000.
Puan Norhayati, guardian of the underprivileged home, Rumah Anak Yatim At Taqwa, expressed her gratitude towards the campaign, “We are so thankful that Malaysians have given us such an amazing gift this Hari Raya. Having gone through the challenges of keeping the children constantly healthy, I now actively practice good personal hygiene around the house. I believe that the cause of the campaign is so meaningful and hope that it will continue to speak great lengths to everyone.”
Besides the pledge movement, the campaign also introduced a series of webisodes highlighting the importance of personal hygiene which includes hand washing and bathing with soap. Mothers can leverage the webisodes as an educational platform for their children to learn.
