Uber, the mobile app which connects drivers to riders in over 160 cities around the world has launched its low-cost product, uberX, within the same app. Now, you can travel around Kuala Lumpur with your very own Private Driver for a fraction of the price with the same Uber reliability and convenience!
With prices 15% lower than budget taxis, uberX vehicles will include Perodua Myvi, Nissan Almera and Toyota Vios in a variety of colours and styles. Rider safety and satisfaction remain as Uber’s highest priority.
All drivers and partners undergo Uber’s rigorous screening process which includes a stringent background check, driving history check and ongoing quality assurance via rating system. Besides that, all Uber rides are backed by the vehicle’s insurance policy and riders will always have the option to rate every Uber driver.
Fares for uberX varies based on GPS data for each trip –
Base Fare: RM1.50
Fare for distance + Time: RM0.55/km + RM0.20/min
Minimum Fare: RM2.50
For the next few weeks, uberX will be highlighted on core service areas with the highest demand, but as more supply partners join the platform, the plan is to expand to the broader KL Metro region as quickly as possible.
To request for an uberX, download the Uber app onto your Android or Apple smartphone, complete the registration process, then swipe and select uberX in the Uber app.
