5 Easy Ways To Motivate Yourself To Work Out After Work

After a long day at work and being mentally drained, the last thing that anybody would get psyched over is going to the gym. True, we all have to keep fit and if it’s not for the sole reason of to lose weight, it’s pretty much just to stay healthy. But when you’ve been slaving away for eight hours in the office, all you look forward to at the end of the day is laying down on your bed, with your favourite TV series on. We understand and we’re here to help!

Here are some tips that you should practice if you want to get motivated to hit the treadmill after a long work day:

Don’t Skip Breakfast – Didn’t your mother ever tell you, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!”? According to a dietician, your workout success starts an hour of waking up. Even though it’s hours to go before you actually head to the gym, by having a good breakfast it helps your body from wearing out the glycogen, which is something you need to stay energized throughout the day. Fill your breakfast with protein, veggie or a fruit, and complex carbs.

Decorate Your Workspace – Do you have pictures of cute animals or your nephew’s face decorated at your cubicle in the office? If you have those or some inspirational quotes, why not swap some of them for pictures of your “goal body” and fitness quotes instead. Might seem lame now, but it works!

Don’t Have a Heavy Lunch – No matter what you’re eating, if you have too much of it, your blood sugar is going to be very high, and when it goes back down, it will leave you feeling dizzy and lazy. Why not try a light meal for lunch like salad that’s paired with some fruit or complex carb.  Try avoiding food with lots of sugar and refined carbs. If you keep your blood sugar steady during the day, you’ll be energized enough to hit the gym after work.

Find a Buddy – Instead of making plans for happy hour with friends, why not gather a few to head to the gym with you? For most people workouts are always a lot more fun when you’re not doing it alone. And then you can enjoy dinner together, after you’ve all sweated it out.

Motivate Yourself With Treats – Been wanting that gorgeous handbag from Coach? Why not tell yourself that you’re able to get it only if you have kept up with going to the gym consistently for the whole month? Want a glass of wine tonight? Tell yourself that you will only have it if you go to the gym.
