You may not be familiar with this kind of article, but if you watch beauty gurus on YouTube regularly, you’d know exactly what I’m about to discuss. Over time, I’ve hoarded a bunch of empty bottles and tubes of beauty, skincare as well as haircare products that I’ve used up just for the sake of this article, and you may think that I’m out of my mind. But, I believe that this would be useful for those of you who wish to try out these products as my reviews would be more credible, considering I’ve used up almost everything. Enjoy!
1. Dejavu Fiberwig Lash Knockout Volume Film Mascara – Dejavu became pretty popular for their mascaras a few years back, so I just had to give it a try. I picked up this one up and it didn’t disappoint me. It does volumize my lashes, separates them nicely and lasts a long time. However, if you’re looking for drama, I recommend going for the Benefit They’re Real mascara or Maybelline’s The Rocket mascara.
2. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer – I love this moisturiser because it’s lightweight, does its job very well and doesn’t have a strong scent. This product has helped my skin improve in texture tremendously and now, I no longer have dry patches on and around my nose. It also disappears into nothing on the skin, so you won’t be left with a film of grease after application.
3. First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Serum – After cleansing and toning, I used this serum for a while until it ran out. I didn’t see much of a difference even after finishing an entire bottle, but it did help to provide my skin with extra moisture and plumpness. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t have a strong scent and absorbs very quickly.
4. Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub – I purchased this product because one of the YouTubers I watched raved about this. This scrub is very gentle on the skin and contains salicylic acid, which makes it perfect for everyday use as it can also help prevent occasional zits. However, I find that the beads are way too gentle and doesn’t really exfoliate thoroughly.
5. Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo – I love Soap & Glory as a brand, but I was a little sceptical about trying out their hair products. I’m glad I did though, because this shampoo works very well on my hair and leaves it smooth, manageable clean and soft. This is a no build-up formula, so you can use it everyday without worrying that the shampoo would dry your hair out. Also, it smells amazing!
6. Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Conditioner – This conditioner goes very well with the Glad Hair Day shampoo and really hydrates my hair. I’ve noticed that I do not have much split ends and my hair rarely tangles. I hate using combs, so I usually just comb through my hair with my fingers and my hair is now very easy to run through. I highly recommend the Glad Hair Day shampoo and conditioner if you’ve got normal hair like mine!
7. Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner – I accidentally threw out the bottle, but I’ve finished using two bottles of this toner. It’s gentle, works well on my skin and prepares my skin for my serum, eye cream and moisturiser. Here’s a tip – I use it on my legs after epilating or waxing too, as it helps to avoid ingrown hairs from popping up!
8. P2 Intensive Kohl Eyeliner in Dramatic Japan – When I first started with makeup, I bought this eyeliner online and I absolutely love it till this day. It isn’t available in Malaysia and it’s a product from Germany, so if you can get your hands on it, please do! This eyeliner is jet black, glides smoothly on the eyelids, lasts all day and doesn’t budge. I also love how it comes with a smudger at the end because this eyeliner gives the most gorgeous smokey eye when blended out.
9. Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion – This is just a random product I grabbed from the pharmacy because I ran out of toner. It is odourless, doesn’t irritate my skin and does its job just fine as a toner as well as a gentle exfoliator. I have nothing else to say about it really, as this product didn’t really make a difference on my skin.
10. Dr. G Gowoosesang Brightening Balm SPF 30 PA++ – I’ve already mentioned this in my What’s In My Makeup Bag article – this is the best BB cream I’ve used. It doesn’t make me look yellow, lasts all day, covers up spots and redness, has SPF protection, doesn’t make me oily and makes my skin glow with time. I’ve already purchased another tube!
11. Boscia Makeup Breakup Cleansing Oil – By far, the best makeup remover I’ve used! I already purchased another bottle because I NEED this so bad in my life. The oil glides on super smoothly on the skin, removes every trace of makeup and doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin. Mix it with some water and you’ll have yourself a milky cleanser that doesn’t leave any oily residue whatsoever.
12. Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Detox Foaming Cleanser – This cleanser is green in colour, but pumps out as a smooth foam that’s really easy to use. This cleanser doesn’t dry out my skin, removes traces of makeup and actually makes my skin feel very clean and soft. The only downside is that it is pricey and the product runs out fairly quickly.
