On the 11th July 2014, VLT Kuala Lumpur, an independent digital agency, hosted Runway 2.0, which is the first ever fashion/technology event in Malaysia at POP, Jaya One. The event brought together entrepreneurs, designers, retailers and marketing professionals from both Malaysia and Singapore. The exciting afternoon included fashion shows, panel discussions and startup showcases.
Jonathan Wong, the founder of Z’NG footwear, emceed the event. During the panel discussion with Johan Ishak (CEO of MyCreative Ventures), Tang Siew Wai (Country GM of Reebonz Malaysia & UAE), and Giulio Xiloyannis (MD of Zalora Malaysia), the panelists discussed on subjects such as the current shopping trend in Malaysia, spending patterns of Malaysians, which areas fashion businesses should be focusing on, best practices in fashion retail, governmental initiatives in the area of fashion and the future of fashion retail.
Four startups were showcased at the event, including Metail Asia, Travelshopa and Ninja Van from Singapore, as well as Warybee from Malaysia. Many who turned up at the event commented that they wished to see more Malaysian startups in the next edition of Runway 2.0.
Zalia, one of Zalora Malaysia’s private labels opened the show with models hitting the runway with glamorous Muslimah outfits, while Syomir Izwa closed the event with its elegant modest wear. The audience was in awe of the intricate detailing on the pieces showcased and it was the perfect opportunity for Zalora as well as Syomir Izwa to display their hard work.

The team behind Runway 2.0 is already planning for a bigger and better version for the second edition come Q1 of 2015, likely involving the entire South East Asia.
