[REVIEW] Mikey’s New York Pizza

If you’re a fan of the movies but has never been to New York, you will know that pizza slices are available everywhere. Remember that scene from Sex and the City, where Carrie and Miranda devoured slices of pie right after a night out at the club? As they took one bite after another, you can’t help but wish that you too could destroy slices of pizza that you need to hold with two hands. What if we told you that you could and you most certainly don’t have to endure a 21-hour flight for a delicious piece of pie. Instead just head on down to Bangsar and have a feast at Mikey’s New York Pizza!

At the quaint Mikey’s New York Pizza, you can have it all and more. The idea for Mikey’s Original New York Pizza came about rather unexpectedly. A New Yorker himself, Michael Helfman has been living in Asia for the last five years, and while on a trip in Thailand he spotted a vendor selling pizzas by the slice, just like how New York does it. Being a fan himself, he decided to get one and it was then he decided that Kuala Lumpur needed a place like this. Notably since all Malaysians love food so much, and especially American fast food!

Months after his trip to Thailand and comprehensive research, Michael got in touch with renowned New York Pizza chef, Andrew Belluci. As a testament to how great a chef he is, we at Lipstiq enjoyed every pizza served, with each tasting completely different from the next.

After several meetings, Andrew agreed to start a brand-new chapter in his life and join Michael in the unique venture that’s been taking Malaysia by storm. From then on, Mikey’s New York Pizza was no longer just an idea but a brand that’s created through passion and hard work from both parties.

The entire idea is for Malaysians to enjoy not just any pizza but to share some of that New York heritage right here in our own backyard. If you’re heading to Mikey’s New York Pizza, we suggest the Tony Soprano and Manhattan Waffle Fries. After one visit, you will find yourself craving and rushing back for more. All you gotta do is lift, fold and bite!

Mikey’s New York Pizza is located at 17, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar. For more info, visit their website.
