Two men and two juveniles were charged in the Sessions and magistrate’s courts in Kota Baru, Kelantan, with gang raping two teenage girls, aged 15 and 17, last month.
They pleaded not guilty yesterday to two counts of gang rape.
Che Azuan Che Hassan, 32, and Muhmed Azroel Hassan, 23, were accused of raping the two girls at Kampung Hutan Pasir in Ketereh on May 20 between 7.30 and 11.30pm.
They were charged under Section 376(2)(c) of the Penal Code that bears a jail term of up to 30 years and whipping.
High Court deputy registrar Noor Haslina Che Seman, who was the Sessions Court judge, fixed July 13 for re-mention and denied bail for both the accused after allowing an application by DPP Asmah Azhari.
At the magistrate’s court, the 17-year-old juvenile pleaded guilty to raping the girl of the same age at the same time and place.
The 15-year-old juvenile pleaded not guilty to raping the schoolgirl of the same age.
They were also charged under the Section 376(2)(c) of the Penal Code but under the purview of the Child Protection Act 2001.
Magistrate Nik Habri Muhammad requested for the case to be transferred to the Sessions Court for sentencing and re-mention on July 13.
He allowed bail of RM3,000 each with one surety for both juveniles and ordered them to report themselves to the closest police station every month, and to keep away from the two victims.
