A 25-year-old man who earlier admitted to three charges of sexual offences against a 14-year-old physically disable girl in George Town has now changed his plea to not guilty.
Muhamad Hunain Shah Sufi claimed trial on Monday for two counts of raping the girl in an apartment at Paya Terubong at 3.00pm on March 24th and again at 2.00pm on March 26th.
Hunain also denied sodomising the girl at the same venue on March 27th.
The accused, in seeking bail, told the Session Court that he had planned on meeting the girl’s family with possibility of marrying her.
Opposing bail, deputy public prosecutor Lim Cheah Yit said this may amount to witness tampering and marriage had no bearing on the charge. He further stated that the offences were serious and the girl was young and disabled.
Sessions judge Khairul Anuar Abdul Halim denied Hunain bail and set May 19th for trial.
