One in four Brits don’t own any nightwear, according to a survey. Whether it’s because they sleep in the nude or pass out in their day clothes is unclear.
Brits are also buying fewer clothes, with the average British wardrobe shrinking by 11 garments since 2012.
However, there is one item that has retained its popularity – pants.
On average, they each own 18 pairs of underwear – only slightly less from 21 two years ago, the Cotton USA Global Lifestyle Monitor report found.
The average Briton has 17 pairs of socks, 14 t-shirts, three pairs of shorts and just one suit.
Spokeswoman Stephanie Thiers-Ratcliffe said, “The GLM report always brings some interesting – and, sometimes, surprising – results, giving lots to talk about when it comes to the different clothing habits of European countries.”
The survey quizzed 5,000 people between the ages of 15 and 54 in February and March.
