American Apparel Sinks To Perverted New Low With Miniskirt Ad

American Apparel really wants you to buy their skirts. But instead of showing us what the skirts look like, they showed us what the skirts would look like when you put them on and bend over.

The photo above is a screenshot off the American Apparel website and it’s supposed to advertise their miniskirt line. However, it’s safe to say that nobody is going to pay attention to the skirt.

American Apparel ads are known to be quite sexualised, as they are infamous for their borderline pornographic depiction of women. There are endless ways to showcase the skirt without having a girl bend over, but AA settled with this. In fact, we really don’t know what the skirt looks like because all we can see is what’s going on underneath it.

What’s the point of this ad anyway? If a skirt would reveal this much when we bend over, we’d definitely be putting it back onto the racks. Wouldn’t you?

Have you seen American Apparel’s other provocative marketing approaches? What about the one with the topless Muslim model or the mannequins with pubic hair?
