Heading out on your first date with a guy you barely even know? Get ready and get safe! Follow these tips and you’ll be a-okay on your first date!
1. Talk on the phone first
Before you actually meet this guy, get familiar with his voice. Talk on the phone once or twice, and know the flow of the kind of person that he is. If you don’t feel it on the phone, you can always cancel your date. But, getting to talk on the phone first will eliminate a lot when it comes to worrying about what kind of person he is.
2. Notice the odd moments
Is he starting to say things that make you a little uncomfortable, don’t ignore it. If things like inappropriate comments, acting overly familiar too quickly… and anything that generally sets off your instincts, then you know to take a small step back on your date.
3. Google him
In this era, technology is the best weapon that you can use to all advantages. Don’t worry, we’re not talking major stalking here – just plainly find up your dates name on google and see what he’s been up to. You don’t want to realize you’re dating a criminal, half way through the date, right? This saves you the trouble, and it also gives you a little more confidence in meeting him.
4. Meet in a very public place
As it is a first date, always try to be in a public place. This helps you when it comes to any awkward situation or anything like that. Being near people will definitely make you feel a lot safer – when it comes going on our your first date together.
5. Have a friend on hand
Get your girlfriend to be your back up. Let her know where you’re going on the day, and ask her to be on call. If things are going smoothly, give her an update – if not, get her to pull the ’emergency call.’
6. Don’t stay if things get weird
If things are getting awkward, move away! Make up a story and leave! There’s not point staying out on your date if things start to get a little… or a lot, weird.
