The final day (Day 3) and most epic end to Future Music Festival Asia 2014 was put to a halt by authorities yesterday on 15 March due to health and safety concerns after six people reportedly died of drug overdose while four others are in critical condition. However, as of 5pm on March 15, the organizers only confirmed one death that took place on the festival grounds on March 14.

The organizers released an official statement yesterday and held a short press conference to address the event cancellation for Day 3 of the huge three-day music festival held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on March 13, 14 and 15, in which the third day was cancelled abruptly.

The organizers also stated that they underwent regular meetings with all agencies involved in the festival including the Royal Malaysian Police, The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Millennium Patriot Security, Jabatan Sukarelawan Malaysia (RELA) and on-site medical doctors and paramedics prior to and during the event.

As of 11pm on March 15, The Star reported that those deceased were identified as Kamal Zekry Kamal Basha, 22, Victor Wong E Hern, 26, Sabreena Kamaruddin, 21, M.Suresh, 28, Syazana Sohaime, 23, and Nor Faizza Mohd Wazir, 27.

Another four people are in a coma and two of them are in critical condition. Authorities mentioned that throughout two days of the event, 22 people were arrested for possession of narcotics.

One person died on the spot at the venue, while another died on the way to the hospital. Four others died at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM).

Details of refunds will be announced within one week, the organizers stated in a statement. Ticket buyers are urged to visit this link for refund details and updates. For more information and updates, you can also visit their Facebook page.
