Bearded Sikh Lady Ditched Razors to Feel More Feminine

You may be completely appalled if you suddenly grow a beard and do whatever you can to remove every trace of it, but this Sikh lady did the complete opposite.

Meet 23-year-old Harnaam Kaur, who is growing a beard and says it makes her feel more feminine and confident about her body.

Due to her polycystic ovary syndrome, this caused excessive hair to grow on her body. When she was only 11 years old, a beard started to appear on her face and it rapidly spread to her chest and arms.

This made her a victim of cruel taunts at school and on the street. She even received death threats from strangers online.

However, she’s now ditched her razor for good after being baptised as a Sikh – a religion whereby it is forbidden to cut body hair. And now, she says she’s never looked back.

Kaur said, “I would never ever go back now and remove my facial hair because it’s the way God made me and I’m happy with the way I am.”

“I feel more feminine, more sexy and I think I look it too.”

“I’ve learned to love myself for who I am nothing can shake me now,” she added.

During her early teens, Kaur was so embarrassed about her beard that she resorted to waxing twice a week. Aside from that, she also tried shaving and bleaching. But this only made the hair become thicker and spread more.

She also became so self-conscious that she would refuse to leave the house. At her lowest of lows, she also began harming herself and considered suicide.

Although she’s always been mistaken for as a man, Kaur says she feels more feminine than ever.

She says, “I’m able to go out and shop in the women’s section without feeling I shouldn’t be there.

“I wear skirts, dresses and jewellery and I like to get my nails done like every other girl.”

We respect her for being so bold with her decision, and Kaur hopes that her story will help other females find self-confidence.
