We live in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur and we’re surrounded by good food everywhere. Be it mamak stalls, posh fine-dining restaurants, hawker stalls or even fast food joints, we have so many to pick from. 1. Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine
Set amongst a glorious pool of lotus blossoms, Rama V is tucked away from the busy district of Kuala Lumpur in a bungalow at Jalan U-Thant. Having been around since 1995, Rama V is known for its authentic yet innovative fine Thai cuisine. 2. La Vie en Rose
Live it up the French way with La Vien Rose. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, La Vien Rose was opened in November of 2011 in a bungalow built in the 1950s on the slopes of Ceylon Hill. Enjoy a night of delicious authentic French dishes prepared by consultant and culinary trainer Jean-Michael Fraisse while Edith Piaf’s greatest love songs plays in the background. 3. Fukuya
Fukuya (or, translated as House of Happiness) is the place to be for those who love authentic Japanese cuisine. Served by the restaurant’s Master Chef Ando, the bungalow-restaurant located on Jalan Delima is designed after a residence of a wealthyJapanese family in olden days. 4. Maison Française
Another French restaurant for you to indulge at, Maison Française located on Jalan Changkat Kia Peng and has an extensive wine list, so heads up wine lovers! With food prepared by notable Executive chef, Chef Franck Lamache, Maison Française is known for their 7-course degustation menu, which many discerning foodies have described as ‘sublime decadence’. 5. Ibunda
Ibunda makes a bold attempt in reinventing Malay Kampung cooking with foie grass, soft shell crab and salmon roe amongst other ingredients and the food is delicious! Housed in a beautiful bungalow near the city centre, this place has Malay fine dining at its best.
6. Bombay Palace
A heavyweight in the Indian fine dining scene, Bombay Palace is the largest chain of North Indian Restaurants operating in Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America, India and Malaysia. Bombay Palace was first established in 1979 and has been operating in Malaysia since 1994. Set in a majestic white colonial bungalow on Jalan Tun Razak, Bombay Palace offers high quality Northern Indian cuisine fare fit for royalty.
7. Top Hat
Housed in a well-preserved colonial bungalow at the crossroad of Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Stonor, Top Hat is known for its known for its signature Peranakan and Western menu. Featuring a classic and stylish design, Top Hat changes it’s menu every three months, allowing patrons to try something new when they visit. We recommend the Nyonya Laksa and key lime pie!
If you love home-cooked food then Huck’s Cafe is the place to be! Housed in a bungalow in Bangsar, Huck’s Cafe features an exclusive home dining experience with authentic Asian, Italian, Mexican and Western dishes. Catering to only 40 – 45 diners per night, Huck’s Cafe is the perfect place for an intimate gathering with close friends and family.
9. Sassorosso
If Sassorosso isn’t the best restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, it’s certainly isn’t far off from being one. Housed at a bungalow in Lorong Yap Kwan Seng, Sassorosso is known for their delicious pizzas! Apart from pizza, pasta, lamb shank and rib-eye steak are also some of the must-try dishes at this restaurant. Match your meal of choice by picking a bottle of wine from their extensive wine list.
10. Ciao Ristorante
Another one of our favourite Italian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, Ciao opened their doors in 1991, making them the longest running Italian restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Situated at Kampung Pandan, the restaurant resembles a rustic Venetian country house with a cozy garden and small lake. Indulge in the pizzas, pastas and desserts along with a glorious glass of wine of your choice.
