If there’s a fashion show we’d all like to witness in real life, that would be Rick Owens’ Spring/Summer ’14 showcase at Paris Fashion Week!
Why? Well, the designer decided to stray away from the norm and instead of models, used a fantastic step dance team to showcase his designs in one of the most mind-blowing runway performance ever!
Now, you don’t expect the dancers to strut down the runway with a catwalk. No – instead, they danced, marched and mean-mugged the entire runway, all in Rick Owen’s designs.
The unconventional show may have shocked a lot of people, but Owens’ move showed one thing – diversity, both culturally and aesthetically. The recent string of fashion weeks have raised questions about the lack of racial diversity on the runway, and of course, criticism about how thin runways models are getting. But Owens packed those issues together on his show, making it one of the most epic fashion shows in history.
Australian fashion blogger Susie Bubble described the show on a tweet as “The most powerful and provocative statement this season”. [Source]
That show was clearly downright “fierce”.
