With Christian Bale stepping down as the Dark Knight, the role of the Batman will now be fulfilled by former Daredevil Ben Affleck.
The Oscar-winning actor has been cast as the Caped Crusader in Warner Bros’. upcoming Superman-Batman film. Unfortunately, the world’s got mixed reviews with Affleck being cast as Batman, despite his critically-acclaimed film, Argo.
WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement: ‘We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some”.
The untitled film will be directed by Zack Snyder, known for his work with Man of Steel, and will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles.
‘Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him,’ said the director.
The movie is slate for release in July next year.
