Long-haul flights leave most of us feeling drained and zombie-like, however they do not need to leave you looking that way too! Here are a few tips on how to maintain the fresh appearance you boarded the plane with when you land.
Have a nice long bath or shower prior to leaving your house for the airport. This will ensure you are as squeaky as you can be when boarding. It is also a good idea to exfoliate upon this stage to remove as many dead skin cells as possible. The removal of dead skin cells will make sure that any moisturising you are to do in-flight will penetrate your skin to its best ability.
Face wipes are an essential to bring on board with you. Not only will they instantly leave your skin feeling refreshed, they are handy to have around for the application/ removal of makeup and to have on standby for any spillages you may have. A good face moisturiser is key to keeping your skin looking and feeling hydrated. Use your face wipes before applying your moisturiser for the cleanest application and absorption possible. Keeping along the lines of moisturising, we would recommend an eye gel as opposed to a cream. Eye gels tend to be a lot more cooling than creams which tend to be heavier. The cooling/ refreshing properties you will find in most eye gels will help to combat any puffiness you may be getting from the flight.
Limp, lifeless hair is a given upon stepping off a long flight. Take a small bottle of dry shampoo on with you and you should no longer have to deal with this problem. Not only will it keep your hair clean, applying it to the roots of your hair and scrunching will instantly make your hair retain its volume.
When it comes to the last half hour of your journey and you’re ready to re-apply or touch up any of your make up, remember to use brightening and wakening techniques. Using a highlighter on the high points of your face (top of cheekbones, bridge of nose, just below the brow) will give your skin a healthy glow as opposed to the dull complexion the dry plane air has probably left you with. Drawing white eyeliner along your waterline makes your eyes appear larger and more open and therefore less tired so that is always a good, easy trick to pull out when you haven’t had enough sleep. Curling your lashes and applying mascara will too take the same effect on your eyes.
Follow these tips and you should end your flight with envious fellow passengers and a look that makes you ready to go straight out! Travel in style.
