Forget your Sudoku books and doing the crossword puzzles on the Sunday paper because all you need is a calm setting, some scented candles and all the things that puts you in the mood to “Oh”!

Neuroscientist Professor Barry Komisaruk believes that orgasms offers our brains a better workout than doing an actual crossword puzzle.

He suggests that the brain activity across the whole organ whereas a puzzle activates only relatively localized regions. “Mental exercises increase brain activity but only in relatively localized regions. Orgasms activate the whole”.

He also believes that an orgasm can also block out pain.

‘At orgasm we see a tremendous increase in the blood flow [to the brain]. So my belief is it can’t be bad. It brings all the nutrients and oxygenation to the brain,’ he said.

The professor, who works at Rutgers University in New Jersey, studied women in his laboratory at the university’s Department of Psychology. He measured the blood flow to their brains as they reached orgasm. [Source]
