According to the latest research from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, about 20% of Malaysia’s total population has a mental health problem. Which means, every 1 in 5 Malaysians is diagnosed with a mental health problem.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Hilmi Yahaya, speaking in the Parliament during a question-and-answer session, the reach of mental health problems like depression, stress, and anxiety were stated in his estimation.

In order to help detect these problems, the Health Ministry has made available screening facilities at 806 health clinics, 40 hospitals and four mental hospitals nationwide.

“There are 224 psychiatric specialists and 100 clinical psychiatric specialists nationwide,” said Dr Hilmi. He also mentioned that one per cent of the population suffers from severe mental problems. (Source)

In a recent study, researchers found that women are 40% more likely than men to develop mental health conditions like depression and anxiety.

Do your sanity some good and head out to one of these clinics for a psychiatric test.
