Embellished sunglasses are big this season. We got our first taste of these fancy pieces of chic eyewear when Anna Della Russo’s H&M collection debuted in Kuala Lumpur. But designers like Roberto Cavalli and Prada started putting them out on the runway, obviously making them key trend pieces for Summer 2013. Embellished cat-eye sunnies takes this 1950s/60s trend a notch up, and what’s amazing about embellished sunglasses is that they’re just too stylish to stash away, so we reckon these accessories is here to stay.
If you’re thinking about getting a pair from the store, there’s no need to! Customize one yourself with a few tools like an old pair of sunnies, some glue and of course, rhinestones.
1. Gather your tools around work around a rough design with your rhinestones.
2. Make sure your rhinestones fit. If you want something subtle, keep the color contrast of the rhinestones closer to the shade of the sunglass frames.
3. If you’re doing this to a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, put something striking at the edge to highlight the curve at the end.
4. Glue your embellishments on, and make sure it’s even on the other side of the glasses too.
5. Let the glue dry for 24 hours, and wear it!
And there you go! Fun, fabulous and affordable chic. Who knew having a whole bag of rhinestones could do so much to revamp your wardrobe.
