Out of all the things we know about organic food is that it’s 20% more expensive than regular produce, they’re sometimes tasteless, and they’ve been praised to the be healthier than buying mass-manufactured foods.
Organic Meats Are Drug-free
A lot of antibiotics are used in animal farms to fatten up the animals. Commonly used on poultry, this helps the chicken grow faster and bigger to live up to the consumer’s standards. Now, the problem with it is that with frequent consumption can cause weight gain and it could even mess up your hormonal balance. Organic or free range meats may not be as tender or succulent as you’d expect, but the nutrient levels are much stable as opposed to common produce. Try an organic chicken and you’ll notice the difference.
Organic Produce Does Not Include Your Poo As an Ingredient
Vegetables and fruits are important in our diets as they contain essential nutrients the body requires to combat illnesses. But did you know that they contain a little more than just the nutrients your body needs? Say, the expelled nutrients FROM your body? Yes, non-organic farmers do in fact use human sewage sludge as a fertilizer for their produces, so just imagine that you’re consuming your neighbor’s doodie in your watermelon! Organic fertilizing methods are much healthier as the plants grow during the off-season and the nutrients crimped back onto the soil. That’s why we have seasonal veggies which are purely fresh to consume.
Mass Produce Crops Contribute to Acid Rain
Rain is not as pure as we once thought. With the hiking rates of pollution in the air, it’s no surprise that our rain contains more toxic than unfiltered tap water. Did you know that pesticides are one of the many causes of polluted rain? To maintain their crops, farmers spray glyphosate, a pesticide that will lace the rain with chemicals once it evaporates into the air. Organic crops bans the use of chemical drugs, so it doesn’t only encourage healthy eating, but it’s also good for the environment too!
Organic Eating = Green Living
It’s true that organic foods can rot faster than mass produced crops. But research suggest that feeding your kids organic food can lower their risk autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Eating organic will also benefit the ecosystem by reducing the emission of pesticides into the air by 90%. It’ll also reduce the risk of neurological injuries, and even cancer.
