I firmly believe a woman should do what she wants, but that obviously comes with its limits. But the biggest idea in this question is the question about a woman’s “number”. Not her birth number or any of that superstitious numerological mumbo-jumbo; but the number of men she’s been with.
As we know of the common premise:
A man who sleeps with a ten girls is a hero
A woman who sleeps with ten men is a slut.
We all know that little riddle, and have you ever really asked yourself that question? Whether you’re saving your virginity for the love of your life or you’re a woman who knows how to have your own, have you really ever wondered why a sexually-adventurous women are deemed as sluts? I met a man who told me he’s been with more than a hundred women, and when I confessed that my number was a little over the average girl, he immediately gave me the cold shoulder. All of a sudden, I was being slut-shamed by a man who admitted he was a man-slut himself.
First off, when did society get off thinking that women are second-class citizens that is undeserving of any privilege and the same desires as any human being? Yes, it’s 2013 and we all shouldn’t be living in the dark ages. I’ve seen Girl Rising and I’ve seen how women are nothing more than an asset. You may disagree with me, or you might wonder why I’m saying this, but hear me out: Women are literally being treated like cows. We’ve all insulted another woman as a cow, but there’s reason behind it. We ARE cows if you think about it. You can be traded off to another man for just a few wads of cash (aka arranged marriage) and you’re there to give a man children or you are expected to (aka breeding). Now do you see how we’re being treated to a farm animal?
But this is merely a branch out of the idea that women are seen as second-class citizens. Thankfully, things are changing, but there are still people who believe we do not deserve some of the many pleasures in life – sex.
I’m sure a woman enjoys sex as any man and that’s a good thing. Women should embrace their sexuality because I firmly believe it makes them stronger. A woman who embraces her sexuality is more likely to take charge of her desires, her passions in life and she’ll probably be better g0-getters than most women who want nothing to do with men, or the same sex for that matter (yep, not neglecting girl-on-girl action).
Have you ever met a woman who knows what she wants, or does what she wants to do? You’ll probably notice an air of confidence. She has more social skills and she probably knows more about a person’s character than anyone else in the room. I’m not the friendliest person on the block. But if I’m at a bar with good company, I can be a big ball of fun – I’ll crack jokes, make bad dancers feel good about themselves, and flirt with a guy if I really like him.
I’m not saying that girls who choose to keep their sex lives to themselves are difficult people to hang out with. But a woman’s decision to reserve herself or sexually-liberate herself is really her concern and only hers. Unless if she’s married and doing it with other people in attempts to hurt her husband, then .. That’s still none of your business but theirs.
Men and women, if you’re reading this. I hope you stop judging a woman who knows how to have fun. No one should ever tell a woman what she should do with her life, or how her life should play out. If you already hate it when people start shoving their agendas down your throat, what makes you think others won’t hate it.
So, ladies. If you’re a sexually-liberated person, don’t let another person’s judgement get in the way. Have the fun you want to have, but just remember to wear a raincoat.
