Has the government been lying to us about the price of cars? On June 10, the government announced the decrease in price of ten car models, like the Volkswagen Golf, Perodua Viva and eight others.
When a viral image of the original Volkswagen Golf advertisement compared to a price chart from a local newspaper, Malaysians are outraged by the RM12,000 price difference!
The original Volkswagen golf poster advertises the price as RM157,888, while the chart on the newspaper says RM169,888. Reps from Volkswagen Malaysia has even confirmed the Volkswagen Golf price to have always been RM157,888 from the time of launch, and not RM169,888.
So, what does this mean? Have unofficial retailers (and cronies) been selling this model RM12,000 more than they should? Have the people paid RM12,000 more? Or could it simply be a matter of misinformation? Still, RM12,000 is a lot to be accounted for as “misinformation”. (Source)
