Is the world finally taking a step forward diversity? Turns out that it is!
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America has elected their first openly gay bishop! According to sources, church officials say that Reverend R. Guy Erwin was elected on Friday at an annual church assembly.
In 2009, the church’s rules changed to allow gays and lesbians to be ordained in the largest U.S. Lutheran denomination.
Erwin is a professor of Lutheran Confessional Theology at California Lutheran University, and serves as a pastor at Faith Lutheran Church. What’s even more exciting is that he’s also the first Native American to be elected.
It’s so great to see how the world is finally beginning to open up to accept people from all walks of life! Well done!
