Here’s a guide for you busy ladies to help live a healthy lifestyle while balancing out your everyday roles.
1. Drink up to 2 liters of water a day. Keep a straw-cup on your desk so you can easily just get a sip whenever you’re thirst. You should also keep a bottle of water in front of you so that you can always grab it whenever you’re feeling thirsty. Add a few lemon wedges or a few drops of honey for some taste.
2. Have a piece of fruit every two hours so you can get your fill of vitamins and fiber. The best source of fiber comes from the fruit you eat, not from supplements.
3. Drink some green tea when you’re craving a beverage in the middle of the day. Iced if you’re craving something cold. Green tea has amazing health benefits and it can go from helping you lose weight to preventing cancer.
4. Take a breather every once in a while when you’re in the office or when you’re in the middle of running your errands. Instead of running through your smartphone and scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, spend that free time by closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths. This will help you recharge without having to take four more cups of coffee.
5. Practice a healthy diet especially when you’re constantly feeling sluggish and tired. Having the right nutrients in your diet can help boost your energy and concentration levels. Zinc, iron and B-vitamins are important in your diet, so have a balanced diet of green vegetables, wholegrain breads, shellfish and even red meat.
6. Dairy and milk are some of the essential nutrients a woman should have. Women are more prone to bone diseases as they grow older due to lack of calcium. The majority of bone development occurs from your childhood to your 30s, so start increasing your calcium intake to lower your risk of osteoporosis and decrease overall weakness that comes with age.
7. If you don’t seem to get any exercise in your hectic schedule, you can incorporate some of it into your everyday chores. Whenever you park your car to get to work, just park a little further than you normally would. This will give you the urge to get some exercise when you hit the office. Other than that, just take 10 minutes off your time after your finish work and utilize the stairs to work on your lower body.
8. Whenever you’re feeling a little down or stressed out, go out and give your pets or your family members a hug. We all underestimate the power of a good hug, but it not only renews your energy levels, but it calms you down and makes you feel like a better person – which is possibly one of the best feelings in the world.
9. Whenever you have free time lying around, try not doing nothing. A good option would be do something idle like reading a book, having a long lunch or breakfast, or even listening to some music while you read. Find something to do that’s therapeutic but still requires some attention. It’s to help you keep your mind focused to push aside the stress.
10. Last but not least, try not to take life too seriously. Sure you’ll have to worry about your career and such, but that’s not the most important thing in life. You can’t get far in your career if you’re not healthy. So get yourself off that chair and try to enjoy your life a little.
