I’m sure you’ve all heard about the book “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff”. The book is exactly what the title says, a bunch of ways and quotes on how to live your life without breaking a sweat. Adopting this mindset and practise can truly make a difference in someone’s life as it’s all easy facts (that make sense!) that you just need to remind yourself. Just like the book, we’ve come up with a list of easy ways to not swear the small stuff and focus on the bigger picture.
1. Don’t Over Think
This is such a common thing to happen! One negative thought, will lead to another, and then another and finally it’ll be one big obstacle that you feel you can’t overcome. This will cause you to be depressed, upset and feel overwhelmed constantly. One way to avoid it is to sort out the first negative thought first, make sure your mind is clear before moving on to the next. Instead of dwelling on each problem, try to resolve and fix them as you go along.
2. Everything Happens For A Reason
Life is as simple as you want it to be and everything that happens, it happens for a reason. There will be constant bumps along the way, but it’s how you handle the situation that helps you obtain peace. Unwanted things happen, emotions get in the way, but when it all comes down to it, you need to breathe, analyze the situation at work on it one stride at a time. If the situation can be avoided and forgotten, then that’s your best option.
3. Let Someone Else Win
Let someone else win for a chance. Always remember that it’s not worth it to invest so much time and effort into fighting for something that’s not even worth it. Ask yourself if it’s worth spending so much energy in something that you’ll forget about in a hour or so. Focus on the bigger picture and be the bigger person. This on it’s own will lift a load off your shoulders.
4. Keep Calm.
Always keep your head on your shoulders. This is definitely easier said than done, however when your world seems to be filled with chaos and problems, stressing over them is never the issue. Keeping calm and taking control of the situation, is a great strategy to handle any problem. This allows you to have a clear mind and focus on what it important and how to go about fixing it.
5. Life Isn’t Fair.
The sooner you come to terms that life is not, and never will be fair, the better! Life isn’t supposed to be fair, it’s supposed to be endured. Ever heard of the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?”, take that into consideration for a second. Life is meant to make you learn and grow. Everyone goes through different phases and this helps them learn how to be a better person or vice versa. Life is what you make of it. Try living life, the best you can regardless to all the obsticles.
6. Nothing is Fixed.
Most of the time, life doesn’t go according to plans. As frustrating it is when plans change, it is unevitable in this fast paced world we live in. Learning to accept that even the most perfect plan may not go as planned can help you avoid stress situations. Going with the flow and adapting to situations can be the biggest asset that will help you lead a calm and stress free life. Accepting this and how nothing is ever permanent in life is key.
