A Simple Guide To Happiness in the Workplace

It was only last year when United Nations declared that 20th of March is the official World’s Happiness Day. It is your choice to pursuit the happiness instead of living your life in expectation. You don’t expect happy things happen to you naturally because they will never happen unless you make an effort to do so. For some, being happy at workplace is seemingly impossible especially with the heavy work loads. But the workplace’s happiness is all depend on how you deal with the negativity and stay happy as you are. To make you feel happier at the workplace, here are our guide to stay happy at your workplace!

1. Manage your time

Keep up with a schedule so that you can manage your works properly and have some time-off for yourself. You can feel a sense of satisfaction and relieve when you are able to accomplish your work within the schedule. Once you can do so, you will also find yourself having a lot more free time than before.

Take a break from your work and calm down your mind when it’s getting too complicated. Don’t overwork yourself because you might feel burnout for spending too many hours on the job. Get a quick rest once in a while and make sure your mind stay clear and positive.

3. Maintain a diet and stay hydrated

Eat right and drink more water so that it can increase your body energy level and boost your mood. The sufficient energy level allows you to be more energetic and engaged in yo

When you eat right and keep yourself hydrated, you are helping your body maintain sufficient energy levels to let you complete your work to the best of your ability. A tip would be to bring food which will help you maintain a balanced diet, such as fruits and vegetables. Treat them as snacks to keep you awake while working. Drink plenty of water as well. Bananas are also great energy providers!

4. Listen to good music

It is undeniably that good music always make our day better and even reduce your stress from work. But, of course, opt for upbeat and mellow songs instead of sad, depressing songs that makes you feel emotional. The songs you listen to while working should be the songs that makes you think of the happy things in your life and stress-free.

5. Move around

While the work might be demanding, but don’t just stay put on a place for too long because you might feel depressed and blue. Stand up from your seat and walk around in the office once in a while throughout the day can improves overall cardiovascular health and refresh your mind. In fact, you might even get inspiration for your work when moving around in the office.

6. Stay positive

No matter what happens to you at your workplace, stay positive and never let the negative energy from ruining your mood. Try to avoid negative office gossips or conversation that touches extremely sensitive subjects that can only make you feel worse in the end of the day. Besides that, mistakes are bound to happen sometimes so instead of feeling grumpy about it, learn from the mistakes and strive to do better.

7. Avoid personality conflicts

The negativity often spread from the personality conflicts between 2 coworkers that creates an unhappy environment at the workplace. However, staying neutral alone is as bad as taking sides because you might end up not being part of the company that helps to solve the problem. Hence, it would be better to choose the least objectionable side so that it doesn’t seem biased.

You deserve to give yourself a little reward after all the hard works you’ve done in the office. Treat yourself some good food, get a full-body massage or get something that you’ve always wanted all along, these rewards might be small but they are certainly enough to make up your day.

9. Socialize

Talk to your coworkers occasionally during a quick rest can make the work more enjoyable and get to know more about them too. Socializing can helps enhance personal relations in the workplace as well as getting fresh new perspectives that open up your mind.

10. Share the happiness

Sharing is caring. Sharing every little happy things in life with each other can lift up the mood and make people feel more appreciative towards their life. From saving a cat to helping an old man to cross the road, you can spread the happiness in the office by sharing all the wonderful stories that has happened in the world and feel good in the end.
