The secret to eternity has not yet been discovered, but you can in fact prolong your years with a couple of these super foods that are super easy to find and definitely easy on your budget, too. These foods do not only contain anti-aging properties, but they even have the ability to fight off some of the most common life-threatening diseases out there.
Coffee
In another Harvard study, coffee consumption has been linked to decrease the risk of prostate cancer. Another good part is that the caffeine levels also aren’t a factor in lowering the risk of cancer. However, it isn’t advised to take down up to six cups of coffee a day, so there’s really no harm in giving your man another jug of coffee.
Bananas
Like avocados, bananas are also high in calcium, magnesium and folate. Potassium helps fight blood pressure and reduces the risk of strokes, while folate helps prevent heart disease and cancer.
Avocados
Avocados are amazing foods that are high in fiber and contain more potassium than bananas. Not only is it great for your skin and hair, it also cures you of high blood pressure, heart disease and even colon cancer
Chocolate
Chocoholics, rejoice! A Harvard study found that the organic compounds called flavanoids (found in cacao) are linked to reduced blood pressure as well as to improve blood vessel health, cholesterol levels and general blood flow. The recommended dose? Two to four squares of dark chocolate containing 70% to 75% cacao, daily! (Source)
Red Wine
If one sinful delight wasn’t enough, time to smile even more because red wine ( in moderation), can also prolong your years. A study reports that red wine contains resveratol, a polyphenol compound that has anti-aging, anti-carcinogenic, ant-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This can also dilate blood vessels, improving your blood flow especially to the brain and to the heart, while lowering blood pressure too.
Whole Grains
Another reason to stop buying that white loaf- whole grain breads like stone-ground whole grains, brown rice and oatmeal, can protect against coronary heart disease and aid in digestive health. Whole grains also improve your insulin sensitivity, controlling your blood sugar levels – a major factor for diabetics.
Apples
We don’t want to bore you and quote that apple and doctor proverb. But bear in mind that apples are filled with powerful antioxidants, like quercetin – an important antioxidant that fights blood clots and cancer. Apples are also rich in a soluble fiber called pectin. Pectic helps lower blood cholesterol levels and remove cancer-causing toxins from the bloodstream.
