Malaysian artiste, Helmi The Gimmick and his two assistants escaped a fiery death in the nick of time, when Helmi’s Mercedes Benz E240 went up in flames. Helmi, who is also an emcee, was driving back to Kuala Lumpur after a show in Chennah at 11.30am.
“I suspected something was wrong so I stopped the car by the roadside and opened the hood. Suddenly, thick smoke billowed out,” said Helmi.
He and his assistants also removed all their belongings from the car, which included clothing, musical equipment and other stage props. Just after moving a distance, Helmi and his assistants heard a loud explosion, and saw the RM200,000 car engulfed in flames. Despite not being injured, he was still rather disappointed over the loss of his car which he had purchased over six years ago.
“Even though I am shocked as I had never experienced anything like this, I am grateful we are all still alive”.
