The festive season is here and in today’s fast-paced lifestyle and sticking to a fitness routine is definitely not the easiest thing. It’s usually during holiday season that those new years resolution of loosing weight crash and burns.
On top of all that, Malaysia is known for their love for foods and the different kinds of local delicacies that are around to offer. But it has also been found that Malaysia is “the most obese country” in South East Asia. Not exactly something to want on our list.
So you’re probably wondering what to do during times like this? The guilt of eating can overtake everything. But don’t worry, there is a way! Fitness First has put together five tips to help you through this festive season, guilt free!
Fitness First is bringing to the table, FeastOut which is your chance this festive season to get the best of both worlds as you feast and workout, all at once!
The five tips to the perfect FeastOut are as followed:
1. Be consistent through the festive season
Consistency is crucial for maintaining a successful fitness regimen. However, with all those visiting, mingling sessions and catching-up with family and friends, you might not be able to drop by the gym as often as you do now. No worries, it’s alright to cut down your visits during the season but do make sure you put twice the effort as and when you hop on over for a workout.
2. Hold that! Start counting the calories
With all those snacks prettily laid out, resisting from popping 2-3 pieces into your mouth can be challenging. Before you go overboard, we thought we share some quick facts. Did you know that 5 jam tarts is equivalent to two bowls of rice? Yup, that’s 410 calories right there! Now, what about two pieces of that sweet and yummy love letters? You’re probably trading that in for four slices of bread, equivalent to 280 calories. Combine these two and you’d probably need to do a high intensity or interval training for about 90-minutes on the treadmill or perhaps a 60-minute Zumba workout!
3. Use the buddy system
Try scouting for a friend or relative whom you’d like to establish a healthier lifestyle with. Encourage one another, exercise together and use this as an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and to strengthen the relationship. After all, the festive season is all about family and friends!
4.Watch the clock
Your body clock, that is. Try to work out at the time you have the most energy. If you’re a morning person, schedule your fitness activities early in the morning before you kick-start your festive visits and open house drop-ins. However, if you perk up as the day goes along, plan your workout activities in the evening. Working out while you have the most energy will yield the best results.
5. Get inspired
Fitness is a state of mind. One trick to stay motivated is to read blogs or websites that show you how others have been successful.
