Valentine’s Day is just around the corner – and for all the lovebirds out there, and those girl who want to feel that extra bit of love. Then here’s a list of movies that will definitely light up that need and want for passion!
1. Pride & Prejudice

Synonsis: Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class.
This is the perfect movie for a heartwarming and passionate romantic film. Set in the older days, the love that is described in this movie is so cute and so different – you can’t help but fall in love with the characters in the movie and the entire concept of it.
2. When Harry Met Sally
Cast: Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher
Sypnosis: Harry and Sally have known each other for years, and are very good friends, but they fear sex would ruin the friendship.
But of course, how could you have a list of Valentine’s Day movies without When Harry Met Sally?
This the classic of all classics. Turn this movie on with your hubby by your side – it’s funny, it’s quirky and most of all, it’s down straight romantic!
3. The Notebook

Synopsis: A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences.
If you haven’t ‘Notebooked’ you man – then it’s time! It is said this movie has this ‘magical’ pull over guys and ofcourse us girls. There is no doubt that who ever watches this movie will be moved to tears.
4. Love Actually
Cast: Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Liam Neeson
Sypnosis: Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.
What’s nice about Love Actually is that it focuses on different kinds of love and emotions – and that’s is really something that makes the heart feel all that more warm. A few tears may be shed, but also a lot of smiles and giggles. It’s not that serious, but it still hits the spot.
5. Serendipity
Cast: John Cusack, Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Piven
Sypnonsis: A couple reunite years after the night they first met, fell in love, and separated, convinced that one day they’d end up together.
Serendipity means a “happy surprise” and well, that’s what this movie is all about. When good things happen to you at the least expected moments – how could you not want that to happen. What’s special about this movie is that it feels somewhat real but at the same time dreamy. Plus, there are a few good pointers for dates for future reference.
6. Pretty Woman

Sypnosis: A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets… only to fall in love.
If you haven’t watched this movie, then you have missed out on a lot! The confidence of a woman is something that is rare but this movie definitely teaches it right. How do you mix love with being an independent woman? Well, there are ways – but ofcourse, it’s comes with a lot more. Don’t know what we mean? Then watch this movie! You will laugh, you may tear a little – but Pretty Woman is the classic love story between a man and woman with the biggest twist of them all.
7. Shakespeare in love
Cast: Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes, Geoffrey Rush
Sypnosis: A young Shakespeare, out of ideas and short of cash, meets his ideal woman and is inspired to write one of his most famous plays.
Pure and complicated love is what ‘Shakespeare In Love’ is all about. Back in the day, love was so forbidden but so passionate – that’s what this movie really brings to the table. But beware, you must be able to stomach a little gore too. It’s a little bloody here and there, but not too much.
8. Notting Hill
Cast: Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts, Richard McCabe
Sypnosis: The life of a simple bookshop owner changes when he meets the most famous film star in the world.
This is a classic romantic comedy that’ll keep you smiling through out the movie. When fame meets a simple person – it’s a pretty interesting concept. Though it may be something that isn’t possibly going to happen, it’s the kind of movie that still gives you a glimpse of hope.
9. Titanic
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane
Sypnosis: A seventeen-year-old aristocrat, expecting to be married to a rich claimant by her mother, falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.
How could you have a list of romantic movies without Titanic? This is probably the most important movie made in history. Words can’t even describe this movie and the reasons it must always be on the list – but the best way to put it is that this is the story of never-ending love. They didn’t give up, the didn’t let go… It’s really something.
10. Before Sunrise/Before Sunset
Cast: Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy
Sypnosis: A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one romantic evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together.
Though it’s actually two separate movies – they come hand-in-hand with each other and should just be combined as one. This is the most realistic and down-to-earth movie you will ever watch. It is something that could happen in real life, and probably already has. There is just something about these two movies that makes you believe that love does exist and that eventually, you will find it (if you haven’t already).
