Fashion Week is here and we can’t help but fall over the Couture designs that are just flowing through the runway. From Chanel to Maison Martin Margiela – these designs are the reason we love and breathe fashion!
This season, we’re seeing a lot more pastels with a litteral splash of bright colours – so in other words, it looks like pastels and neons are making a come-back togehter as one. It’s an interesting combination that may feel weird to the eyes – but definitely more interesting than ever. As for any Spring collection, the key to the Couture collection is to keep a large chunk of elegance flowing and that is what we see in all these designs. Especially with Valentino, Ellie Saab and Christian Dior…. take a look as see for yourself!
Giambattista Valli
This is probably our top collection of the season – there is just something about this collection that brings out the feminism of woman and fashion to the next level. The cuttings of the dress, the flow of the fabrics – we can’t help but stare at all the dresses in awe. This Giambattista Valli Spring ’13 Couture collection is a mix of classy and modern which is what makes it all that more edgy. The layers of the chiffons and as well as the Cinderella syndrom in all the dress just makes this collection all that more dreamy. We also noticed that golden leaves were the key to this collection – as head pieces necklaces and an empire line enhancer – what’s not to love? It’s the perfect collection for the perfect, classy yet morden women. We would love to dazzle in one of these designs!
You can never go wrong with Chanel – there is just something about the brand that stands out. When you see a certain cutting to a dress, or a jacket – you can’t help but think to yourself, ‘that’s a Chanel design’. Despite it’s signatures, there are also moments when you think at a design and get amazed by how out-of-the-box the design is. We think that’s the case in this Chanel Spring ’13 Couture collection. The classic suits and jackets made it’s appearance – but there were also designs that got us dumb-fonded and caught us by surprise. It’s pretty amazing really how a simple fabric change can make the biggest difference.
This Atelier Versace Spring ’13 Couture collection is definately a collection that stands out from the rest of them all. We can’t deny that. The use of florecent colours and vibrant materials – this was an eye opening collection. The most interesting part about this collection is the fact that each and every peice in this Atelier Versace collection is completely different. There is no similarities in all the designs just a flow of completely new ideas. We can definately say that this was a pretty inspiring collection in terms that you’re thinking outside of the box. Some of the designs may have been a little too hard for the eyes to handle, but what’s interesting is that despite it being a little too out there, there are still some aspects of the designs that draw you in.
Christian Dior has the kind of designs we look out for at any red carpet event. The flow of every single design in the collection is just stunning. The lines, the floral patterns, the plain cuttings – it’s all just that beautiful. The thing about Christian Dior is that is the most simple yet more stunning set of designs that every woman would fall weak for. Don’t you agree? What’s interesting about this collection is that majority of the designs are based on a very pastel palette colours but at the same time, you can randomly see burst of bright colours like red. It’s definitely appealing to the eyes. What do you think of this Spring ’13 Couture collection? YAY or NAY?
Ellie Saab
We think it’s become every girls dream to own/wear an Ellie Saab designer dress – it’s just something about the detailed embroidery that makes the designs one of a kind. Though, we don’t think collection was as impressive as the previous ones – it’s becoming a little monotonous if you ask us. But at least Ellie Saab is stick to their traditions and signatures, right? Though, we would’ve loved to see a lot more use of colours – it probably wasn’t the right time to implement that. As for the designs, we love the cuttings and the flows as usual. Simple, classy and just pure elegance. That’s what Ellie Saab is all about anyways.
Jean Paul Gautier
Oh-la-la is what comes to mind when Jean Paul Gaultier is involved. He’s always go a special touch to all his designs, and no matter what they are wearing – you just just know for a fact that it’s Jean Paul Gaultier’s work. This Spring ’13 Couture collection gives us the sense of ‘Arabian Nights’ with a hint on Pirate enfusion. We also get the whole gypsy feel to all the designs. Keeping to darker tones – Jean Paul Gaultier gives us a sense of ‘evil’ but in a good kind of way (if it’s possible to describe it that way). This French designer is someone who really sticks to his roots when it comes to designing. We got to admire that!
Maison Martin Margiela
Maison Martin Margiela has the kind of designs that keep you really looking. There is not a boring piece in the entire collection. Though, it way not be ‘Ready-to-wear’ worthy, it’s still something that is interesting and fashion is not always about making it wearable to the audience, it’s about creating something new and different that will amaze the eyes. Maison Martin Margiela definitely got that spot on. We get a very Mexican feel to this entire collection. With the mix and matching, the odd fabrics and the over-the-knee cut off trend – it’s a collection that we find very entertaining.
Valentino
Valentino is the kind of designer that embodies a woman and the elegance of her flow. If one things for sure, Valentino is all about creating and making a design that wraps around a woman through elegance. Soft colours, soft materials and soft finishings is the way to go with this Spring ’13 collection. With a hint of floral here and there, you can see a slight change in this collection – but the good kind of change. Without fail, in every Valentino collection, there will be a range of red designs (the Valentino classic as we might call it). What do you think of this collection? Is it something you’d love to try on one day?
