A smile with well-aligned and perfect white teeth are what most people consider as beautiful but apparently Japanese think otherwise. In Japan, women are willing to pay hundreds for imperfect crooked teeth to achieve the “yaeba” look.
“Yaeba”, translated as “multilayered” or “double” tooth, are an orthodontic imperfection in which some teeth are in front of others, creating a vampire-like effect. This all went down to the root where many Japanese pop idol girl groups’ members were seen sporting the cute, bubbly image with the fang-like snaggletooth look.
Even though it was considered as a flaw to most, the Japanese men find it cute and attractive with its childlike appearance. Most women in Japan opt for the permanently mangled smile while some go for the temporary non-permanent fangs for the effect.
Although we think some of the things happening in Japan are amazing and unique, we just don’t get this beauty trend and it should probably just stay popular in Japan. What do you think of this trend? Comment here or let’s discuss in our Lipstiq forum!
