Designer Karl Lagarfeld is making a statement with a new and upcoming trend!
The man behind Chanel, has shown his support for the legalization of gay marriage in France by sending two models down the runway wearing couture bridal gowns.. you could say these were matching downs. So, you get the drift.
The current President of France, Francois Hollande plans to legalize gay marriage and then allow same-sex couples to adopt and conceive children. But of course, not everyone in France is agreeing with this decision In fact, just this month (January) thousands of people marched in Paris to appose this upcoming law.
When asked if his use of lesbian couture at his show and in support of gay marriage in France, Karl Lagerfeld respones with “Of course it was”
He then tells The Associated Press, “I don’t even understand the debate. Since 1904 (in France) the church and state have been separate.” He also said people who consider marriage a sacred religious union can continue that tradition in their churches, temples, synagogues and mosques, but that all religions should tolerate gay marriage.
However, Karl Lagerfeld also said that is he opposes allowing gay couples to father children born through artificial insemination.
