To start the new year in 2013, Cathay Pacific Airways is taking comfort in the skies to a whole new level. Passengers who fly beyond Hong Kong to Sydney, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Adelaide, Los Angeles, Melbourne, San Francisco, Frankfurt, Brisbane and Mumbai on Cathay Pacific’s new Premium Economy Class is set for a total enhancement of the Economy class experience. It offers more comfort, space and personal attention throughout the entire journey.

On ground, passengers will be blessed with dedicated check-in counters, additional baggage allowance and priority boarding. In the air, a passengers will be pampered with a comfortable seat, enhanced catering, better entertainment and even more of Cathay Pacific’s renowned personal service.

The Premium Economy experience features a quieter, more spacious cabin than the traditional Economy Class. The seat pitch is 38 inches, and the seat is wider and has a bigger recline. It has a large meal table, cocktail table, footrest, a 10.6-inch personal television, an  in-seat power outlet, a multi-port connector for personal devices and extra personal stowage space.

Furthermore, the new Premium Economy Class takes the customer experience to elevated heights with the new amenity kits that feature exclusive designs by home-grown Hong Kong brand, G.O.D. (Goods of Desire).

The kits are made available for Premium Economy for long haul flights. The design’s collaboration with G.O.D. took inspiration from the vibrant culture of Hong Kong, where East meets West, and where the age-old traditions blend with cutting-edge technology.

Cathay Pacific General Manager Product Toby Smith said, “The plan is to have four designs per year, two outbound and two inbound. The hope is that they will become real collectibles and that passengers can look forward to receiving a new design every time they travel.”

The first two designs on board are called “Joy” and “Fortune”. The “Joy” design depicts Chinese gods enjoying themselves inflight by sipping coffee, using the computer or reading, and is available on flights departing Hong Kong. The “Fortune” design features a Chinese-style image of auspicious clouds and will be distributed on inbound flights.

The amenity is also made from at least 90% recycled plastic bottles while the toothbrush is made from corn starch and cellulose, which makes it biodegradable, recyclable, and uses fewer resources in its production.
