The stresses and strains in your daily affrays can certainly disconnect you from the world, and even your own personal life. Everybody needs to destress, whether it’s an hour a day, or every few minutes of every hour. Here’s six of effective secret weapons that help us relax.

1. Breathe
Breathing is most powerful tool for keeping yourself centered and calm. You don’t have to go all out and sit in the lotus position at work, but you can start by simply sitting up straight, and paying attention to your breath with your eyes closed. A deep and fresh source of oxygen will help balance your nervous system, and you can do it just anywhere.

2. Go Outside and Move
As you as you get a little stressed, you’ll notice how your mind starts disconnecting from our body. And while a little breathing can help, a little movement will actually help your mind and body find balance. So, take a five minute break for with a walk, while taking deep breaths.

3. Listen to Music
While watching something calming can help you visualize a relaxing moment, relaxing sounds will stimulate both your mind and body. If you’re able to, take five minutes and keep your eyes closed while listening to calm music, whether it’s the sound of birds chirping or the soft melody of a piano.

4. Drink Something Hot
You know how they say you should drink a cup of tea to calm you down? It really does help. Calming teas like chamomile, white tea and green tea are rich in antioxidants and soft flavors that give off a certain air of lightness, especially to your taste palettes. It also helps to smell the soft flavors of tea that is brewing.

5. Have a Laugh
Something amusing is sure to perk up your mood. Whether it’s a video of a funny scene in a movie, or funny videos of cats, having a bit of a chuckle and a laugh for even five minutes is enough to boost your mood, stimulating all the positive feelings in your body which will help you relax.

6. Talk to Someone
Talking to someone gives you a different perspective on your current feelings. Just the thought of someone listening to you can already calm you down, so if you have a litany of worries, call up a friend and share your feelings. They’ll listen and give you all the perspective you need to balance your emotions.
