What are your fitness plans for 2013? In 2012, we saw various fitness trends like Ballet Barre and unique training tools like TRX suspension trainers to get the over-all body muscles working in order to help you achieve those amazing abs of steel. This year, the fitness trend is made for the budget-conscious while helping you go with the flow. Here are the top four fitness trends you should try in 2013.
1. At-Home Workouts
If 2013 is a year for you to save, then ditch that gym membership, especially if you show up once a week or ever at all. While working at the gym can be fun, we dread the idea of having to change and share a room with 20 other sweaty strangers, which is obviously a turn-off unless if it’s your thing. Working out at home is inexpensive, private, and the thought of doing it at home makes you feel more relaxed and calm. Get started by purchasing some exercise balls, cardio equipment and a yoga mat. Try something new everyday to keep it exciting.
2.Fusion Classes
We had Yogalates (Yoga + Pilates) and Ballet Barre ( Pilates + Ballet + Yoga) before. These exercises are a combination of various workouts that really gets your body working. This year, we’re looking at a swarm of combo classes like Piloxing, aerial yoga, and stand-up padddleboard yoga. These fusion classes may be short, but they train a wider range of muscle groups and they’re usually a fun way to spice up your fitness routine. So gather your friends and take a class together.
3. Small-Group Personal Training
We make just as many excuses that keep us from our one-on-one personal training sessions. Those sessions can be very intimidating and leaves you more demotivated than you want to be. Personal trainers are now offering their services to small groups of four to five people, and we reckon the fees might possibly just be cheaper. Small-group personal training is great as you’ll be working out with a tight group of friends, who can motivate you, and even give you a little boost of confidence to.
4. Outdoor Exercises
Fitness is no longer limited to treadmills and weight-training in a mirrored room. Taking it outside could now amp up your burn by about 5% due to the various terrains, plus it can help reduce some stress and frustrations, while getting a little fresh air and being surrounded by nature. Try hiking, kayaking, or even running through the neighborhood to turn your local landscape in your your outdoor gym.
