Movies come from all sorts of inspirations – but sometimes, a movie is made based on the true stories of everyday people. From the times of World War II to a simple story of a father and son. When you watch a movie based on a true story, it really sinks into the heart because you know know that something like this actually happened to someone before.

1. The Pianist (2002)
Staring: Adrien Brody, Emilia Fox
Based on the struggles of a Polish Jewish musician who tries to survive through the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto of World War II. Not only is it heart warming and stricking to the emotions but Adrien Brody portayed the character so well.
2. Schindler’s List (1993)
Staring: Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsly
Considered to be the most heartbreaking war movie of all time, the Schindler’s List portrays the torture that went on through out the World War II as something so real. The movie is based on Oskar Schindler who is someone who started to become concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis.
3. Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Staring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Martin Sheen
This is a story based on Frank Abagnale Jr. who before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor and legal prosecutor. Pretty neat huh? It’s a movie filled with suspense and quirky moments too. Not all true stories have to be deep, right?
4. A Beautiful Mind (2001)
Saring: Russell Crowe
This is story of an asocial mathematician who accepts work in crytography and this turns his life around drastically. The challeneges that he has to face – it’s pretty hearbreaking. When you watch this movie, you can’t peel your eyes off the screen even for a moment – seriously. It’s that pulling.
5. The Social Network (2010)
Staring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Rooney Mara
We all know Facebook has become a part of todays society, but it all started with one man.. Mark Zuckerberg. The Social Network is based on his life and what he had to do to be where he is now. That includes suing his own two brothers and how he kicked his own co-founder out of the business. Though, it is said that it’s not his exact biography, it’s still a movie worth watching.
6. Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Staring: Will Smith, Jaden Smith
This is a deep and heart warming movie about the struggles of a father and his son. It’s based of the true struggles of one man, and it really is something that may happen to anyone at anytime. This movie is a real eyeopener.
7. The Lady (2011)
Staring: Michelle Yeoh, David Thewlis
Based on the story of Aung San Suu Kyi, who is a women who becomes the core of Burma’s democracy movement. The movie focuses on her struggles, her rise and also her relationship with her husband, a writer, Michael Aris.
8. Titanic (1997)
Staring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet
This is the classic true story – it’s a story no one will ever forget. Based on the tragic case of the sinking Titanic ship, the movie focuses on two specific people. A seventeen-year-old aristocrat who is expected to marry a rich man by her mother but she ends up falling in love with a kind but poor artist on board the Titanic.
