Forget spending the night out in painful heels, and get comfortable in your matching pajama sets at home, instead! A girls night in is the best way to keep a tight bond on your relationship with your best friend, and when your jaws are exhausted from a solid hour of catching-up, here’s a list of movies that will keep the night-in pretty in pink!
1. 50 First Dates
A movie that is absolutely hard not to love. Adam Sandler plays a commitment-phobe who cons women for one-night stands. He meets Drew Barrymore and falls in love with her, only to realise that she has severe short-term memory loss. Instead of running away, he continues to convince her to fall in love with him everyday! A man so in love with a woman that he is dedicated to proving how much he loves her? And everyday, a new way of making someone fall in love? We’ll take that DVD, please!
2. Bridesmaids
When our best friend gets married, we’re the happiest for them, right? Yes, but then we go through a major self-reflection phase and all we see is that our best friend’s life gets better and better, and our days just get gloomier by the hour! Bridesmaids is a film that features funny-woman Kristen Wiig, who plays an out-of-work pastry chef who goes through that exact description, after discovering her best friend is getting married. Bridesmaids is an absolutely funny flick that girls will love with it’s slapstick humor, cat fights and dress-fittings gone wrong.
3. Sex & The City : The Movie
Love it or hate it, you can’t have a girls night in without Carrie Bradshaw and gang to lighten up the mood. When Carrie says ‘yes’ to Bigg’s proposal, it’s all good until he bolted off on the day of their wedding, which would obviously leaves Carrie in a very dark place. A perfect movie about girlfriends being there for each other, follow along as the girls help console their best friend after a disastrous day.
4. (500) Days of Summer
A unique ‘story about love’ taken from the perspective of a hopelessly romantic guy, Tom who falls in love with a doe-eyed girl named Summer. Summer isn’t the type of girl who believes in the concept of love, whereas Tom does. Learn how a guy falls in love with this movie. We would also recommend a box of tissues since this movie is quite a tear-jerker!
5. Mean Girls
A movie that cannot be missed, catch this hilarious take on the seriousness of high-school cliques, bullying and cat fights starring Lindsay Lohan and the girl we all remember from The Notebook, Rachel McAdams!
6. Say Anything
This movie may be old, but one should always remember who started the iconic pose of standing outside a girl’s house, lifting up a boombox that played the song you first made love to – John Cusack. Say Anything is more than just a love story or a chick flick. This movie will make you cry, laugh, and possibly spend most of the time going ‘awww’.
