Can’t seem to figure out why your skin is not clearing up even though you’ve done everything from cleansing to moisturizing? Well, it may be the foods that you take in. After all, they say that what you put into your mouth affects how you are on the outside. Here are a few foods that you should definitely add up into your diet – and once you do, we’re pretty sure that your skin will start to show a major difference.
1. Omega 3 Fatty Acids
We’re talking about Salmon, flax seeds, walnuts and those foods who contain the ‘good’ fats. These foods help with keeping your skin glowing. These foods also reduce inflammation, so if you’ve got a problem with your blemishes turning really red after awhile, stock up on Omega 3 fatty acids – it will help!
2. Anti Oxidant foods
We’re sure you’ve heard about how good green tea is for it’s anti-oxidants, right? Well, it’s no surprise that anti-oxidants are actually good for your health but it also does wonders for your skin. The atni-oxidants will attack and banish all those unwanted free radicals that damage your health and skin. If you’re not the type that likes to nibble on food a lot, be sure to get at least one or two cups of hot green tea on a daily basis. That is the easiest source of anti-oxidants. Other foods include, cherries, berries and even spinach!
3. Rich in Vitamin-C
Always make sure to get the right amount of vitamin C into your system. You can get it from melons, oranges, tomatoes, and even strawberries. These will boost your immune system, especially if you’re someone who gets sick often, you need a whole load of vitamin C. These foods also keep your skin from scaring of acne and have a way of healing irritated skin.
4. Foods rich in selenium
Selenium is also a type of anti-oxidant that fights off all the bad that lays in your body system. The foods include, brazil nuts, almonds, onions, garlic and whole grains. Having a good dose of selenium will preserve your skins elasticity and reduce inflammation. Just eating a handful of almonds a day will do just the trick.
5. Foods with high water content
The obvious point here is… drink a lot of water, water and water! Keeping your body hydrated is one of the best things you could ever do to your body. In addition to drinking the required dose of 8 glasses of water a day, you can eat foods like watermelon and cucumber as they hold a high content of water too.
6. Low sodium foods
Foods that are packed with salts will not only bloat you up but the also do horrible things to your skin. In order to avoid pimples from flaring up, try to limit the amount of processed foods. Substituting canned or frozen foods with a fresh dose will make a huge difference. Plus, your body will feel so much better if you have less sodium in your system, trust us!
