Rado has begun their next chapter in the DiaStar success story with the DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition.
Alfredo Häberli, a Swiss designer recognised for his minimal and frequently innovative designs that combine functionality with passion and humour, created the sculpture. Today, more than thirty years after founding his own studio in 1991, he is still as passionate about realising his dreams for brands like Iittala, Baufritz, and Andreu World as he was on day one.
About the Design
When it came to the design of the DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition, he wanted to take the original DiaStar’s attributes and give them a modern twist. The faceted cut of the watch glass was reworked in a hexagonal form to commemorate the 60th anniversary.
The hands and date display were likewise designed to appear as contemporary and abstract as possible. He attempts to bring value to every design he creates, which is determined by the design’s everyday usage. The new DiaStar is a watch that can be used for a variety of occasions since it comes with two different bands and a leather case that may be used for protection while travelling.
The DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition comes in a sleek grey pouch with a woven stainless steel mesh bracelet “Milanese” and a textile strap that can be quickly interchanged for a different look thanks to the EasyClip technology.
