Your first date. Quick catch-up with a friend. The perfect spot to relax. That’s what coffee is all about. Coffee is never just a beverage. It’s an aroma and taste that take you down memory lane. Speaking of memory, there’s a new coffee spot in KL that’s ready to be part of your sweetest memories.
Kopi Kenangan was established in 2017 with the primary goal of filling a market gap between expensive coffee offered by foreign coffee chains and instant coffee offered at many of the nation’s roadside kiosks and street stalls. Indonesia’s fastest-growing new F&B chain, Kopi Kenangan has officially opened its doors in Malaysia, with its first store at Suria KLCC. The maiden outlet was launched by Kopi Kenangan’s Co-Founders, Edward Tirtanata, CEO, and James Pranto, Chief Business Development Officer.
In case you didn’t know, “kenangan” in both Bahasa Malaysia and Indonesian, directly translates to “memories.” The café aims to treat all its customers like a friend, and since every cup of coffee sold is made with love, they hope it translates to customers making memories with them along their journey. Although “kopi” is a word that is universally recognized and understood in Malaysia, the chain is branded as ‘Kenangan Coffee’ outside of its home country. Kopi Kenangan chose Malaysia as its first market expansion due to Malaysians’ love of food, coffee culture and the grab-and-go concept. Kopi Kenangan doesn’t just aim to make quality coffee, but quality coffee available at affordable prices, and accessible to all.
Kenangan Coffee Mobile App

Click to download (Android/IOS).
Kenangan’s Signature Drinks
Kenangan Coffee will be introducing its beloved signature drinks, such as Kenangan Latte and Avocado Coffee, as well as a wide range of other coffee and non-coffee selections at its store. The price per cup starts from RM5.90, which is in line with the brand’s promise of making quality coffee available to everyone. Here’s our take on these two beverages.
Kenangan Latte – The original name of this beverage is Kopi Kenangan Mantan. ‘Mantan’ means ‘ex’ in Indonesian. Perhaps the drink was inspired by memories of an ex, bitter at first, but sweet at the end. And that’s exactly what we tasted in this beverage. This signature drink consists of 2 shots of espresso, gula aren (or palm sugar) and their secret milk. Combined, this trio of ingredients makes one heck of a drink! It’s not too bitter, not too sweet, or too milky, but has a very balanced note in every sip.
Avocado Coffee – This green drink is a must-have if you’re not a fan of avocado, because you’ll definitely change your mind. Almost the same combo as the Kenangan Latte, the avocado has 1 shot of espresso, avocado juice, secret milk and palm sugar. Best to have this beverage while its cold for maximum flavour impact. This drink is perfect for those who can’t take lots of coffee, but want it anyways.
Kenangan Coffee will also be introducing a variety of food options as delightful companions to its coffees, such as Cerita Roti (bread), Kenangan Manis (cookies), Chigo (fried chicken) and Kopi Kenangan Hanya Untukmu (ready-to-drink coffee). They also offer common items like croissant, muffins, danishes and cakes.
The new outlet is in a strategic location. It’s right near the LRT KLCC pathway, which is a good thing, because more and more people walk by daily. Hence, there’s no way they would miss this spot. Be sure to check out this new café and try their amazing coffee for yourself. We bet you’ll fall in love with every sip.
And here’s more great news: Kenangan Coffee will be opening four more stores at MyTown Cheras, Pavilion KL, NU Sentral and Sunway Pyramid PJ by the end of this year! We absolutely can’t wait!
