We just got word from our sister site Lowyat.net that South Korean tech conglomerate Samsung is permanently discontinuing all sales and production of the problem-stricken flagship Galaxy Note 7 with immediate effect.
The tech giant finally decided to pull the plug on the smartphone, just days after temporarily halting its production.
At least five replaced Note 7 units which were supposedly ‘safe’ have caught fire, and as of now, all ongoing exchange programmes for the device has also been stopped.
Unfortunately, Samsung’s Note 7 catastrophe just keeps escalating, and it has just killed off the device entirely.
Here’s Samsung’s official statement on the matter:
Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung is also encouraging all Note 7 owners to turn off their smartphones and return them for a full refund. We’ll update as soon as we receive more news.
