If you’re on Facebook, you may have seen friends RSVP’ing to a Full Moon Party that’s going to be held at Pulau Perhentian Kecil on April 19 and 20. Well, that party may NOT happen after all..
UMNO Youth and Puteri wings, along with other non-governmental organisations have lodged a police report to protest against the party by attempting to have the permit to organise the party withdrawn.
It was feared that the party would encourage negative things that could affect the islands’ residents, like alcohol consumption and wild interactions between opposite genders, which could possibly lead to free sex.
Additionally, it has been said that these kinds of parties are not suitable to the local customs or culture and the teachings of Islam.
Meanwhile, Kuala Besut assemblyman Tengku Zaihan Che Ku And Rahman said that no application had been received to organise such a party, adding that, “The state government will take stern action (and) will not allow the party to be held even though the organisers make a request to the Besut District Council (BDC).”
If you’ve made transportation and accommodation arrangements to get to the island just for the party, it’s best that you try and work around that or make cancellations now.
